  • When should I consider having my Medical treatment in India?

When the treatment or expertise for managing your illness is not available in your own country or the cost in your home country is higher than what it is in India. Medical procedures and surgeries in India could save you 60% to 80% of the cost of a similar surgery compared to other countries that also have world class medical care. The substantial savings allow you to buy the international return ticket and make the required travel arrangements to make the trip to India. If your surgeon and speed of recovery allows you, you will also be able to afford a short, restful vacation at any one of India's famous tourist destinations, and still save money.

  • Is cost the most important factor that I should consider?

NOT AT ALL. The cost should not be the most important reason to consider going to India for your surgery. In matters concerning your health and well-being, your decision should be based on sound knowledge of the expertise and facilities the hospital has to offer and on the credentials of the surgeons. Our associate-hospitals and their surgeons are all of world-class standards. All our surgeons have practiced for several years at some of the most renowned institutions around the world. Our purpose is to provide you with all possible information on the hospitals and surgeons for you to make an informed decision, and at the same time, save money. We ensure that you are in the best hands.

  • Why is medical care so much cheaper in India?

It is not cheap-it is relatively cheap.
In other countries, doctors are required to pay very high medical practice tax premiums. Doctors in India too, pay medical taxes but their costs are very low compared to those in UK/USA. Besides, doctor's fees and the salaries of healthcare support workers are substantially lower than other countries. This allows the hospitals to offer advanced, world-class healthcare technology and institutions at much lower costs than hospitals in other developed countries. In addition, India being a major producer of pharmaceuticals, medicines are very cheap here.

  • Can I trust the foreign doctors and surgeons?

MedWorld India’s carefully selected doctors in our associate hospitals have trained, taught or practiced in the top hospitals of India, USA, Europe, UK or Australia. Some surgeons are world renowned and pioneer in different surgical procedures being associated with many international teaching hospitals and cutting-edge research foundations.
MedWorld India will provide you with surgeon’s resumes, set up telephone interactions and even video conferencing, to help you make the most educated decision on your choice of hospital and surgeon for your medical procedure.

  • How do I know the hospitals are safe?

MedWorld India has personally visited each of the associate hospitals before tying up with them. They maintain high standards of hygiene and many are geared specifically to treat international patients.
Some hospitals have received JCI accreditation and/or ISO registration. Some are in the process of getting these in place. The hospitals are some of the best in the world and have highly trained surgeons and doctors and professional caring staff. Huge investments have been made by each hospital group to have the modern facilities and equipment available.

Due to the highly advanced medical procedures carried out by these hospitals, in most cases, the success rates often exceed those of other countries hospitals.

  • How would I follow up with my surgeon in India after I come back home?

We ensure that your personal doctor or Hospital Consultant has a full record of the discharge notes including details of the surgical procedure undertaken, X-rays, MRI scans etc. from the Indian hospital to ensure the follow up care and any physiotherapy is swiftly integrated. Our doctors in India can liaise with your local family doctor or specialist to ensure that everything is fine even after you go back.

  • What are the risks?

Honest and open communications are very important to us, so we would never claim that there are no risks when undergoing a medical procedure. What we do say is that by working with only very high quality institutions and doctors we strive to ensure the level of risk is no greater than if you were treated in other developed countries. It still is important for you to do your own research based on the options that we present to you so that you can make an informed final decision.

  • What if there are complications?

The doctors that we work with cannot exclude complications in the same way that the other countries doctors cannot. However, you will be provided with excellent care to prevent these complications in the first place. Should any complications occur while you are abroad, you already are in a full tertiary care hospital, where all medical areas are represented and you will get the highest care.

  • What if in the pre-surgical consultation the physician resolves that I cannot undergo the treatment?

MedWorld India recommends asking all your questions before the trip, especially if you suffer from any diseases such as diabetes, cardiopathies or high blood pressure that can call for special cares in order to carry out the procedure. If the procedure is cancelled by decision of the physician, we will abide by the cancellation policy. You will be refunded the procedure amount in full.

  • What if I decide to leave earlier?

The treating doctor/ surgeon decide the minimum time that the patient will need to stay in India in order to recover favorably. We advise you to go according to the treating doctor's recommendation. However, if you decide to leave earlier, then neither MedWorld India nor the treating doctor or institution can be held responsible.

If you wish to stay longer, MedWorld India can provide you with various options of rejuvenation, accommodation, sightseeing trips etc.
